‘I’m afraid. To make a promise. Because I don’t know who’ll be making it. I’m a stranger to my life.’ Quentin, a New York lawyer, is tormented by self-doubt. After two disastrous marriages, he wonders if he has any right to a third? With a new girlfriend arriving soon, he decides to fight the demons in his head - his domineering mother, his frustrated first wife, his best friend whom he betrayed, and above all, Maggie, his second wife who died of fame, alcohol and drugs - in order to find out who he truly is. This production contains strong language (including sexist, ableist and homophobic slurs), themes involving anxiety, alcoholism, drug abuse, self-harm and suicide, scenes based on the Great Depression, the Red Scare and McCarthyism, World War Two and the Holocaust, as well as the use of haze, flashing lights and loud sound effects.

By arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd.
